Avalon Guest House is a trendy, executive guest house located in Durban South Africa, AA graded and highly recommended accommodation. We offer bed, breakfast and dinner on request for both private and corporate clients.

Our transaction currency is in South Africa Rand.


Privacy Policy

Avalon Guest House has a strong commitment to providing excellent service to all of our customers and visitors of this website, including respecting concerns about privacy. Avalon Guest House will explicitly ask when we need information that personally identifies you (“personal information”). Generally this information is requested when making reservations; when requesting a particular service; or when sending feedback. You agree to provide accurate and current information, and not to impersonate or misrepresent any person or entity or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with anyone or anything.

The purposes for which Avalon Guest House will use your personal information are as follows: to transact with you via the website or email regarding reservations, to provide services to you via our website; to inform you of new features, services, special offers and products; to enable us to process, validate and verify reservations and requests for services and for the purposes for which you specifically provided the information; to improve your experience on this website.

Avalon Guest House will be entitled to disclose personal information if Avalon Guest House is required to do so to: (a) comply with applicable law or with legal process served on Avalon Guest House; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Avalon Guest House, and (c) for the purposes of distributing same to various employees and/or third parties who assist Avalon Guest House in providing services to you and thus need to know your personal information in order to render a proper and efficient service to you. We will use reasonable endeavors to ensure that all such employees and/or third party service providers having access to your personal information are bound by appropriate and legally binding confidentiality and non-use obligations in relation to your personal information.

We will:

  • treat your personal information as confidential;
  • take appropriate and reasonable technical and organisational measures to ensure that your personal information is kept secure and is protected against unauthorized or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction or damage, alteration, disclosure or access;
  • provide you with access to your personal information to view and/or update personal details;
  • notify you if we become aware of any unauthorized use, disclosure or processing of your personal information;
  • upon your request, promptly return or destroy any and all of your personal information in our possession or control.

We will not retain your personal information longer than the period for which it was originally needed, unless we are required by law to do so, or you consent to us retaining such information for a longer period.

Avalon Guest House undertakes never to sell or make your personal details available to any third party unless we are compelled to do so by law. In particular, in the event of a fraudulent online payment, Avalon Guest House reserves the right to disclose relevant personal information for criminal investigation purposes or in line with any other legal obligation for disclosure of the personal information which may be required of it.

Whilst we will do all things reasonably necessary to protect your rights of privacy, we cannot guarantee or accept any liability whatsoever for unauthorised or unlawful disclosure of your personal information, whilst in our possession, made by third parties who are not subject to our control, unless such disclosure is as a result of our gross negligence.

If you disclose your personal information to a third party, such as an entity which operates a website linked to this Website or anyone other than Avalon Guest House, Avalon Guest House shall not be liable for any loss or damage, howsoever arising, suffered by you as a result of the disclosure of such information to the third party. This is because we do not regulate or control how that third party uses your personal information. You should always ensure that you read the privacy policy of any third party.



Smoking Policy.

Avalon Guest House has a strict no smoking policy for all inside areas. Smoking is allowed outdoors and ash trays are provided on the deck and in the court yard.
If a guest smokes in a room an additional cost will be charged to cover any loss and additional cleaning required to remove the smoke odour from the room.


Check-in and check out

Unless prior arrangement is made the following check-in and check- out times apply:
Check-in time is between 2pm and 8pm.
Check-out time is until 10 am.

Meals and Bar times

The meals and bar closing times are displayed in the dining area. Please adhere to these times unless prior arrangement has been made.

Noise

Please be considerate of other guests and neighbours at all times. In the hours between 10pm and 8am we ask that all noise that can be heard in adjacent rooms be avoided. This includes TV sound.

We regret that no pets are allowed

Cancelation and Refund Policy

Avalon Guest House requires a 50% deposit of the total accommodation cost charged based on the number of days and daily rate.  In the event that the booking is cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival, any deposit will be forfeited (non-refundable).

Between 7 and 14 days prior to arrival, 75% will be forfeited (25% refundable).

Between 14 and 21 days prior to arrival, 50% will be forfeited (50% refundable).

Before 21 days of arrival, 25% is forfeited (75% refundable).

Please note that the booking is only guaranteed after full deposit has been received.  Should the deposit not be received, the booking will be considered cancelled.

As a general if a booking is cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival, any deposit including any other prepaid amounts (such as in cases where a full amount was paid for the booking) will be forfeited.  Further, all deposits and prepaid amounts are NOT REFUNDABLE in the event of no-show (non-arrival).
